This past week, Concept Projects Group had the pleasure of hosting Emily, an A-Level student from Calday Grange Grammar School Sixth Form, for her work experience placement. Emily joined us at our Wirral head office to gain insights into the dynamic projects we’re currently managing. Throughout her time here, she immersed herself in various aspects of our operations, contributing actively and learning firsthand about our industry.
In this Q&A, Emily shares her reflections on her experience, the skills she developed, and the highlights of her week at Concept Projects Group.
Can you tell us about yourself and what you’re studying for your A-Levels?
I attended West Kirby Grammar School from years 7-11 and then moved to Calday Grange Grammar School Sixth Form in September 2023 to study for my A-levels. I study English Language, Psychology, and Business Studies. My interest in Business Studies inspired me to choose Concept Projects Group for my work experience placement because I wanted to see the different aspects and job roles available behind the scenes of a company like this.
Can you describe a typical day during your work experience at Concept Projects Group?
Typically, I arrive at the office around 8:30 am and greet everyone. Then, I sit with one of the employees while they explain their roles and tasks. They have all been very helpful, letting me try some of their tasks and get involved. After that, I usually complete an admin task that I can do unsupervised and email it back to the person who assigned it to me. In the afternoons, I engage in various activities, mainly revolving around digital marketing. I use the end of my day to finish any tasks I haven’t completed.
What new skills or knowledge have you gained during your time with Concept Projects Group?
I have learned to use different websites such as Canva and Signable, which I had never used before. I also improved my Excel skills. My knowledge of Excel was limited, but throughout the week, I used it numerous times and learned new features.
You took over our social media for the week. What kind of content did you create?
I created a post about Concept Projects Group’s recent involvement with the New Ferry Rangers FC grassroots football tournament. I also created a post about my work experience placement, which went out to all of Concept Projects Group’s social media accounts.
What were some of your favourite activities or tasks during the week?
One of my favourite activities was launching the company’s Instagram page. This included posting the first post, uploading a story, and following similar businesses and companies that Concept Projects Group has worked with before. I enjoyed this because I use Instagram a lot in my personal life, so I am familiar with the platform.
How did you find working with our team?
I felt very welcomed by the Concept Projects Group team. They greeted me several times throughout the day, offered to make me drinks, and were very helpful and flexible when explaining things to me. They made me feel very involved despite my being younger and less knowledgeable.
How do you think this work experience will benefit your future studies and career aspirations?
This work experience will benefit my future career considerations because I learned that there is a wide variety of jobs available in every field. I took a particular interest in the marketing side of the business, especially the behind-the-scenes work of social media and the website. This area is something I hope to learn more about in the future.
In conclusion, Emily’s work experience at Concept Projects Group gave her valuable insights into our diverse roles and operations. Her active participation made her time here mutually beneficial. We’re delighted to have supported her educational journey and career aspirations.
