Meet The Team: Joe Bradford

As a leading engineering project delivery company based in the Wirral, North West, Concept Projects Group has a team of dedicated professionals who excel in providing project management services.

Today, we are thrilled to introduce you to a key member of our project management team, Joe Bradford! With his experience and love of engineering, Joe brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our team.

As a Senior Project Manager, Joe is responsible for managing multidisciplinary projects, ensuring that they run on time, within budget and deliver the expected outcomes. In the year Joe has worked with us, he has demonstrated consistent success in delivering projects across a diverse range of industries.

We recently interviewed Joe to learn more about his project management journey and his advice for aspiring professionals in the field.

How did you begin your career in Project Management?

I started my career in engineering by undertaking a single-discipline apprenticeship in electrical/electronic engineering. With this experience and my love of engineering, it opened multiple doors for me to follow. However, I was not just fixated on electrical engineering. I am passionate about all engineering facets and problem-solving. As a result, this led me to develop a good understanding across multiple engineering disciplines and therefore enabled me to lead projects with a varied team of engineers. Progressing into roles such as Project Engineering and Design Coordination became a natural transition, ultimately paving the way for my current position in Project Management.

What are your main responsibilities at Concept Projects Group?

My responsibilities range from typical Project Management tasks to actively contributing to client acquisition and tendering processes.

What did your most recent project at Concept Projects Group involve?

The most recent project I completed was the installation of four EV chargers including civil work, electrical setup, and bay marking.

Before this, I was engaged in the development of a Semi-Automated Vial Inspection (SAVI) machine and an Automated Vial Inspection (AVI) machine for a client within the pharmaceutical industry. These projects included significant lab renovations to accommodate the new equipment, specialised equipment lift and shift operations, rigorous testing of the installations, and obtaining approval from both manufacturers and clients.

Currently, I am managing several projects, ranging from upgrades to a security system and the integration of new equipment to enhancements in an existing cake production line.

What aspect of your role is the most rewarding?

Problem-solving and delivering challenging projects.

What keeps you motivated?

Working with a great team and meeting new clients with unique challenges enables me to deliver projects to the best of my ability.

What would you advise people looking to start out in a role like yours?

I would advise people that things may not always go as planned, and problems can arise. When this happens, look at them as opportunities for problem-solving. Therefore, if there is a problem raise it, but always bring forth a potential solution. Additionally, refrain from dismissing others’ ideas, as they may offer valuable insights that could be better than your own. Be honest and treat others in a way that you would want to be treated.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends, working on my house and garden, waterskiing and wakeboarding – although the latter is challenging with my wife at the helm.

What are you most looking forward to about the future?

Professionally, helping Concept Projects Group to grow with the current culture and professionalism. Personally, helping my eldest daughter pass her driving test and my youngest to develop her part-time acting.
