We are delighted to welcome our latest addition to the Concept Projects Group team, Liam Timlin.
Liam joins us as a Junior Project Manager and is with us for a 9-month graduate placement from Liverpool John Moores University.
LJMU Graduate Futures connects SMEs to graduate talent and provides opportunities to increase graduate retention through collaboration, joint-working and knowledge transfer partnerships across the Liverpool City Region eco-system.
As a Junior Project Manager, Liam is responsible for supporting our Senior Project Managers on multiple complex multidisciplinary projects by ensuring they run on time, to budget and outcomes are delivered to regulatory standards and work best practices.
Liam brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team with his MSc in International Business and Management, and has already got stuck right in! We are so excited to have him on board.
Meet Liam Timlin
How did you begin your career in Project Management?
I completed Project Management modules as part of my Masters in International Business and Management while studying at Bocconi University in Milan. I learned from Senior Accenture Managers and Project Managers from Balich Worldwide and Fondazione Prada.
This learning built on my previous experience working as a Business Support and legal intern in Vietnam, facilitating foreign company expansion into Vietnam. This engrained my interest in seeing projects through from inception to completion.
Through LJMU Graduate Futures, I have been given an opportunity in a role that is a core interest to me and allows me to put my learning into practice.
What aspect of your role is the most rewarding?
Having a structure and using a coordinated approach in collaboration with all team members to achieve goals and meet deadlines. Upon completing a project, it is rewarding to look back on it and see the change process and the newly implemented idea being operational.
What keeps you motivated?
Making constant small improvements daily that build on progress that culminate in effective change and success for our customers.
What would you advise people looking to start out in a role like yours?
Look to complete Project Management courses at University and gain internships in a similar role to discover if it is the role for you.
If you are within a business already, look to assist on a project to get an appreciation of the structure and methodology of project management, so you have the experience to draw upon.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I enjoy playing golf and am part of a local society that regularly plays across Wirral and North Wales. I have four border collies and enjoy hiking with them both in Wales and the Lake District. As a season ticket holder, I regularly go to Goodison Park to watch Everton.
What are you most looking forward to about the future?
Developing in my role and responsibilities and being part of an ambitious, driven, and forward-thinking company. Achieving both my personal goals of gaining industry qualifications and the company’s goals to be the best in the North West.
