At Concept Projects Group, we are passionate about driving innovative and sustainable solutions in project and construction management. In this blog post, we explore how we were involved in supporting the launch of John West ECOTWIST®, a revolutionary minimal-waste packaging solution that’s now hitting the shelves at Asda.
Collaborating for a Greener Future
We are proud to be an environmentally responsible company, and our collaboration with John West, Thai Union Group, CCL Label, and Schubert Group on the ECOTWIST® project emphasises this commitment. The new-to-market concept aims to reduce environmental impact by eliminating excess packaging—no shrink wrap, no cardboard—just an aluminium strip to secure can towers. This innovative design is a significant leap towards John West’s goal of transitioning all products to sustainable packaging by the end of 2025.
Our Role in the John West ECOTWIST® Project
Concept Projects Group played a key role in bringing ECOTWIST® to market. From collaborating on design improvements to overseeing the final installation, our team provided comprehensive project management and technical support. Here’s a snapshot of what we delivered:
- Project Management: Ensuring the project stayed on track, within budget, and adhered to safety standards.
- User Requirement Specification (URS) Generation: Developing detailed specifications to meet user needs.
- Technical Solutions & Supplier Selection: Advising on the best technical approaches and choosing the right suppliers.
- Line Layout Design: Designing efficient layouts for high-speed orientation and label application, in collaboration with Schubert Group and CCL Label.
- Quality Inspection System Design: Implementing rigorous inspection systems to maintain product quality.
- Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) & Site Acceptance Test (SAT) Monitoring: Overseeing tests to ensure equipment functionality.
- CDM Management: Preparing the site for installation, in accordance with CDM 2015 regulations.
- PUWER Assessment: Ensuring all equipment met the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations.
- Commissioning & Ramp-Up: Overseeing the commissioning process and supporting ramp-up to full production.
- Snagging and Sign-Off: Addressing any final issues and ensuring a smooth project closeout.
Our approach ensured a robust and timely delivery, with zero lost-time accidents—a testament to our thorough planning and execution.
