As a Health & Safety Co-ordinator, Yan manages the day-to-day operations of our projects to ensure all duties are carried out under Construction, Design and Management Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015). We recently sat down with Yan to learn more about his background, responsibilities, and insights into the construction industry.
Q&A with Yan Moore, Health & Safety Co-ordinator:
What are your main responsibilities at Concept Projects Group?
My responsibilities range from monitoring site safety to ensuring all health and safety documents such as risk assessments, method statements, and site inspections are adhered to.
What does your most recent project at Concept Projects Group involve?
Currently, I’m focused on running the CDM side of a project for one of our clients in the food industry. It’s all about ensuring compliance with CDM 2015 regulations during all project phases and mitigating installation-related risks.
In your opinion, what are the most significant challenges facing the construction industry today?
Material costs, site accidents, and correct training are some of the most significant challenges we face in the construction industry.
What measures do you prioritise to ensure a safe working environment on construction sites?
Safety is paramount on construction sites. If something doesn’t look right, don’t do it. Also, everyone who enters the site must be fully trained and competent in their role.
What aspect of your role is the most rewarding?
The most rewarding aspect of my role is knowing that everyone on my site works safely and goes home in the same condition they started work in. This is one of our core values at Concept Projects Group.
What keeps you motivated?
The ever-changing nature of my job. No two days are the same, and staying alert to potential dangers while constantly learning and growing keeps me motivated.
What would you advise people looking to start out in a role like yours?
My advice would be to absorb as much knowledge as you can from your peers and never hesitate to ask questions. It’s the best way to learn and grow in this field.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Outside of work, you’ll find me indulging in various sports and enjoying quality time with my family.
What are you most looking forward to about the future?
I’m excited to see where Concept Projects Group is headed. As a relatively young company, I’m looking forward to watching the company grow and hopefully grow with it.
